Hi! My name is Liz, I am a runner, coffee fanatic, personal trainer, and a Registered Dietitian. I was born and raised in North Carolina and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Exercise and Sport Science in 2012. I went on to graduate from Meredith College with my Master’s of Science in Nutrition in 2016. I am a CISSN (Certified Sports Nutritionist) and NSCA Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (Personal Trainer). I completed my Dietetic Internship with Meredith College in 2017. Currently, I work as a registered dietitian in private practice specializing in GI disorders and food allergies/sensitivities.
I originally started this blog because I wanted to share my journey to a sub 3 hour marathon with anyone who wanted to join me. Since the inception of lifeofarunnergirl.com many things have changed in my running career & life. Running (and fueling running with delicious recipes) will still be a focal point of lifeofarunnergirl.com, but I also want to provide delicious recipes, tips, and tricks for anyone living with food allergies or sensitivities. You can expect to see lots of gluten free and vegan baked goods, my gluten free finds in different cities across the US, and my explorations with nutrition/hydration for running.
I started running competitively when I was a freshman in high school, and never looked back. In college, I discovered (and came to love) the half marathon and marathon distances. I crossed the finish line of my first half marathon in February 2011 at the Disney Princess Half Marathon. I crossed the finish line of my first marathon in March 2012 at the inaugural Washington DC Rock n’ Roll Marathon. I qualified for the Boston Marathon in October of 2012 at the Baltimore Running Festival. I never made it to the start line of the Boston Marathon due to a pesky femoral stress fracture, but hope to cross that finish line here in the next few years.
